He was a two-time first team all-conference player for the 49ers, who reached the finals of the NCAA West Regionals. He was also a member of the U.S. team in the 1971 Pan American Games in Columbia. Terry was a second-round pick of the Milwaukee Bucks. Most of his professsional career was in the ABA, where he played with the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Nets. He was a member of the 1976 ABA Champion Nets and also continued playing in Europe following his days in the U.S.
