A legend of the sport of volleyball, Brian Gimmillaro will be joining the Long Beach State Athletics Hall of Fame. Gimmillaro was the head coach of Long Beach State Women’s Volleyball for over 30 years and transformed the program into a national powerhouse, winning three national championships in 1989, 1993 and 1998 and advancing to nine total national semifinals while 27 NCAA Tournament appearances. His 1998 program, led by National Player of the Year Misty May, was the first women’s volleyball program in NCAA history to go undefeated at 36-0.
