Brent Hilliard

Hilliard led the 49ers to the 1991 NCAA Championship and was a three-time first team All-America selection (1991-93). In 1992 he was the National Player of the Year named by both Volleyball Monthly Magazine and ABCA/Tachikara. He was a three-time first team all-conference pick after being a third team pick as a freshman in 1990. The only 49er men’s volleyball player to have his jersey retired (#7), Hilliard was on the 1992 U.S. Olympic Team which captured the bronze medal in Barcelona. His 3,034 career kills is first on the LBSU and NCAA record books. He also is the 49er career leader in kills per game (7.12), total attempts (5,678) and service aces (132). His 821 kills in the 1991 season is still an NCAA record. Two times he recorded 53 kills in a match, a school record and he recorded 30-plus kills in 39 career matches. He went on to be an assistant coach for the University of San Diego women's team.
