Bob Pestolesi

Pestolesi is part of the group of dedicated educators that built the foundation for 49er athletics. After lettering as a member of the school's golf team in 1952, Pestolesi joined the 49er faculty in 1955. He was an assistant coach on the school's first football team, "We were invited to everyone's homecoming," he recalled. He also served as coach of the tennis (1955-58) and golf (1972-73) teams. On the administrative side, he served as chair of the physical education department from 1967 to 1978. In 1978 Pestolesi moved to CS Dominguez Hills, where, was athletics director and chair of the physical education department, he helped the school moved to Division-II status athletically. In 1983, Pestolesi became an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California.
