Bill Florentine

Florentine qualifies as one of the Long Beach's first Top Guns. He led the team in scoring in 1961-62 (492 points) on the way to becoming the first player in the school's history to score 1000 career points. Eighten years and countless quality scorers later, Florentine's 1159 points still is amongst the all-time greats. An All-City baseball and basketball performer at Jordan High, Florentine was chosen Long Beach's high school athlete of the year in 1958. He also played two years of baseball for the 49ers. After graduating Florentine played for a year with the New York Nationals, which opposed the Harlem Globetrotters.
