Bill Baron
Bill Baron
  • Induction:
    1988
When the Long Beach Staet basketball program went big time in the 1970's, the single-season scoring record everyone took a shot at belonged to Bill Baron. Ed Ratleff (22.8) was the only person in 30 years to pass it, prior to James Cotton and Lucious Harris. Baron's 22.6 points per game scoring average stood for nearly 20 years prior to fellow Hall of Famer Ed Ratleff. Baron led the 49ers in scoring in 1957 and 1958 and his 334 rebounds in 1957 still ranks No. 2. Baron was a physical education teacher in Anaheim.
