- 2013
In new head coach Dave Snow's first season with Long Beach State baseball, the 49ers put together a magical season. Without a true home diamond, the nomadic team was forced to play on numerous fields, including an all-dirt infield, which led to the team's now infamous moniker, the "Dirtbags." The team set a school record with 50 victories, winning 18 straight games to begin the season while advancing to the College World Series for the first time. Five players were drafted from the squad, including two future big leaguers in Kyle Abbott and Darrell Sherman.
