Peppi Earns Season’s Final Big West Player of the Week

After a phenomenal final weekend of the season, Rocco Peppi garners his second weekly honor.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Rocco Peppi provided most of the pop in the Dirtbags' series sweep to close out the 2022 season, earning him the final Big West Field Player of the Week award. It is the second of his debut season.
Recording a hit in all three contests, the redshirt freshman posted a .417 batting average, .563 on-base percentage, and led the team with an .833 slugging percentage. Three of his five hits in the series went for extra bases including his fifth home run of the season in Saturday's run-rule victory.
Most of the damage was done in the final two games as he recording a pair of multi-hit games with seven RBI in the final two games of the season. On Saturday, he was 2-for-3 with a double, home run, four RBI, and four RBI. To close out the year, he went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI on Sunday. He was responsible for all three Long Beach State runs in the season finale.
The Huntington Beach native ends his first season at LBSU with a team-leading .321 average and .408 on-base percentage while ranking second on the team in runs, hits, doubles, and total bases. His 19 hit by pitches this year ranks tied for sixth most in program history.
This marks the third Big West Field Player of the Week honor for the Dirtbags, and seventh weekly conference honor overall this season.
